Are granite worktops heat resistant?

Granite worktops are heat resistant but not heat proof. For all stone worktops we recommend using trivets for your hot pans rather than placing them directly on your worktops. Granite can be used for hearths and is what we would recommend, rather than quartz which is less heat resistant. As stone worktops generally stay relatively cold, placing a hot pan straight out of the oven can cause the material to crack. Although granite worktops are heat resistant to a point, causing any damage can be avoided by using trivets.
