What is the difference between natural and engineered stone?

Natural stone such as Marble and Granite are quarried from the earth and cut into big slabs. Due to being natural material each slab and batch are different. This means no two slabs are the same making for a unique kitchen project every time. Although Marble and Granite are both natural stones they both have very different qualities. Marble is a much softer stone meaning it can scratch and stain easier making it an unsuitable choice for a kitchen but a good choice for a bathroom surface. Granite is a harder material with different qualities including heat resistance and stain and scratch resistance.

Engineered stone such as Quartz and Sintered Stone slabs are the same. They are made in the same way to ensure each slab created of that brand and colour is the same. The man-made stones are naturally non-porous meaning that they do not need to be re-sealed to stop liquid and bacteria soaking through.
