Bespoke Quartz Worktops

We book in two dates: one for template and one for installation which are a week apart. That week gives us enough time to manufacture your stone worktops including all the polished edges, and extra elements such as splashbacks, upstands and window cills. It also gives us enough time to create the sink and hob cut outs as well as the drainage flutes if required.

Check out our Newsfeed to find out more about the whole process.

A waterfall end is a design feature where the worktop doesn't just stop at the end of the cabinet it vertically extends to the floor at a 90 degree angle to create that 'waterfall effect'. It can be found on the end of kitchen islands or on the end of sink and hob runs.

Find out more about waterfall ends, how they're created and the true cost of this feature in our blog! Or check out our BQS Canaletto Quartz Island with a this feature on display in our showroom.

An upstand is a strip of worktop which runs along the wall to prevent from splashes. They sit on the worksurface so look like an extension of your worktop. Upstands are typically 100mm high however this is up to personal preference as they can be smaller or bigger. They also create a seal between the worktop and the wall to ensure no liquids can seep behind the cabinets over time.

Stone worktops are highly durable and heat resistant however they can crack if you place a hot pan on the surface. This is because stone typically stays quite cold, so if you place a hot pan straight out of the oven onto the surface it can cause thermal shock. We always advise using trivets for hot pans to avoid this. Surfaces like Marble have a lower heat resistance

The cost of kitchen worktops depends on your choice of material, design and slab thickness. For example a plain white, 20mm quartz surface would be a better price than a big veined 30mm material. The cost of your worktops also depends on the size of your kitchen. Smaller kitchens will require less slabs of material than bigger kitchens- it's all relative. Choosing certain ranges of material will help keep the cost down- we have a surface to suit every budget and design!

Quartz worktops are non-porous so they're unlikely to stain as long as you avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals. We advise wiping down with warm, soapy water after use. If you have a tough stain then gently wiping CIF Cream Cleaner over the area will remove the stains. If you're unsure then please give us a call before using harsh chemicals on your new worktops!

Quartz worktops are as maintenance free as worktops can get! They simply require a wipe down with warm, soapy water after use or at the end of the day. For tougher stains we would recommend your daily kitchen cleaners, avoiding the harsher cleaning chemicals. Quartz doesn't require sealing like granite or oiling like wood. As long as you wipe down the surface after use your quartz surfaces will last for years!

Quartz is scratch resistant as it's much harder than most sharp household items such as glass and knives. As a result, everyday use- cutting and sliding objects etc wont scratch the surface easily, although we do advise using a chopping board for cutting to save wear overtime. It's best to avoid getting any grit or sand on the surface as materials like these are more likely to scratch the surface.
